Things To Love

  • Stunning Appearance: Made from high-quality materials, the Breville Precision Brewer is absolutely beautiful. It has sleek dials, a stylish control panel, and a sturdy thermal carafe.
  • Durability & Reliability: This coffee maker is wonderfully designed and produced from high-end components. You’re guaranteed a durable and reliable coffee maker when you buy the Precision Brewer.
  • It’s Incredibly Versatile: This coffee maker is a drip coffee maker which has a thermal carafe and a pour over attachment to ensure it’s the most versatile appliance on the market.
  • PID Control: Proportional-Integral-Derivative. Or to the layperson, a device that maintains a more consistent water temperature than does a regular thermostat, resulting in a better cup of coffee.
  • The Cold Option: Fans of cold brew and iced coffee haven’t been left out. Breville  included settings for both these cold options. However, you’ll need to supply your own ice.
  • ‘Gold Cup’: The ‘Gold Cup’ feature will automatically give you the precise settings recommended by the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) to deliver the most delicious coffee possible.

What’s Not To Like?

  • It Has a Huge Price Tag: Let’s not beat around the bush, this coffee maker is super expensive, and while it is worth every penny, not everyone will have the spare funds for this beast.
  • It’s a Little Loud: The Breville Precision Brewer is a little louder than you would hope, not obnoxiously loud, but loud enough to notice.

Final Remarks

The Breville Precision Brewer is a two-time champion and is our favorite drip coffee maker, and thermal appliance all rolled into one. And while it’s not the best pour over coffee maker on our list, it does have an attachment that allows for pour over brewing.

Though it is hugely expensive, the superb quality of this coffee is reflective of that price tag.

2. Keurig K-Classic

Best Single Serve Coffee Maker
Keurig K-Classic Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, 6 to 10 Oz. Brew Sizes, Black

  • Descaling: An important part of cleaning your keurig brewer. This process helps to remove calcium deposits, or scale, that can build up inside a coffee maker over time.

Specifications

  • Genre: K-Cup Coffee Maker
  • Dimensions: 13.3 x 9.8 x 13 inches
  • Appliance Weight: 9lbs
  • Capacity:  48oz
  • Material: Plastic
  • Available Colors: Black – Rhubarb
  • Dishwasher Safe: No

Things To Love

  • Best Selling Coffee Maker: No other coffee maker has sold as many units on Amazon as the Keurig K-Classic. It’s not even close. Those tens of thousands of consumers can’t all be wrong.
  • Multiple Size Options: Choose between the 6oz, 8oz, and 10oz brew size options.
  • Removable Water Tank: The 48oz water reservoir is removable, so it’s easy to fill when you need to.
  • ‘Auto-Off’: This coffee maker will save energy by switching itself off after two hours of inactivity.
  • Notification Lights: When the K-Classic needs descaling, it has a handy notification light to let you know it’s time for a clean.
  • Water Filters: Keurig supplies a pair of water filters to make sure your water is free from impurities, giving you the smoothest, healthiest coffee possible.

What’s Not To Like?

  • Takes Longer to Brew Than it Claims: Keurig says the K-Classic can brew a serving of coffee in under a minute, and while the brew time is still swift, it generally takes more than one minute to make coffee.
  • No Programmable Timer: Disappointingly, there is no programmable timer on the Keurig K-Classic
  • It’s Limited to K-Cups: You can only make coffee using K-Cup pods in this appliance.

Final Remarks

There is no coffee maker more popular than the Keurig K-Classic, and with good reason. With a mid-range price point, it has a ton of features to help you make delicious K-Cup coffee. A lack of a programmable timer is disappointing, but you can’t have everything.

Overall Score: 17.5/20

3. Breville Grind Control

Best Coffee Maker with Grinder
Breville Grind Control Coffee Maker, Brushed Stainless Steel, Medium

  • Appliance Weight: 16lbs
  • Capacity:  60oz
  • Material: Stainless Steel

Things To Love

  • It’s Wonderfully Built: Breville is well known for making high-quality appliances, and the Grind Control coffee maker is no different. It has a sturdy construction that promotes longevity and looks fantastic.
  • 8 Strength Settings: Using settings 2 to 8, you can brew the weakest coffee strength (and it is feeble) up to a highly robust and full-flavored strength. Setting number 1 will allow you to brew pre-ground coffee in which you’ll control the potency by the quantity of grinds you put in.
  • Thermal Carafe: The thermal carafe will keep your coffee warm for hours, ensuring a delicious cup of coffee while simultaneously saving power. The carafe is robust and has an excellent appearance.
  • ‘Steep & Release’: The steep and release function will give you single-serve coffee at the same strength and consistency as coffee that was brewed in a whole batch.
  • Countdown Timer: Found on the LCD, the countdown timer will inform you how it’s long going to be until your next coffee fix.

What’s Not To Like?

  • High Price Tag: While the coffee maker is not as expensive as its larger Breville sibling, it’s a very pricey appliance.
  • High Maintenance: The burr grinder on this coffee maker is an excellent feature; however, it requires regular cleaning to prevent a build-up of coffee grounds.

Final Remarks

The Breville Grind Control is the finest drip coffee maker with a built-in grinder on the market. It will put a big dent in your bank balance, but it’s worth it to have freshly ground, freshly brewed coffee every day.

You’ll have to spend time maintaining your Grind Control, but if you look after it, it will look after you.

Things To Love

  • It’s Gorgeous: The KitchenAid Cold Brew has been designed to perfection. The crystal clear glass and high-quality brushed stainless-steel have been crafted into a striking coffee maker and a real conversational piece.
  • Small Footprint, Large Batches: This cold brew coffee maker won’t take up much space in your fridge, but because it makes coffee-concentrate, it will brew up to 14 servings at a time.

  • Portability: A robust, heavy-duty carry handle makes the KitchenAid Cold Brew portable and convenient.
  • Brews Tea: This cold brew coffee maker doubles as an iced tea appliance giving the KitchenAid Cold Brewer twice the versatility.

What’s Not To Like?

  • Expensive: For an appliance that only produces cold beverages, this is an extraordinarily expensive piece of kit. Though if cold brew is your passion, this beautiful machine is worth the cost.
  • Leaky Tap: A small number of consumers have reported the stainless-steel dispenser is prone to leaking and leaving a trail of coffee on the bottom of the fridge. It’s worth noting not all appliances are afflicted with this problem.

Final Remarks

The KitchenAid cold brewer is one of the most beautiful coffee makers on the market. It makes enormous batches of cold brew concentrate to quench your thirst and refresh your entire family. It’s relatively expensive, though, but this little power-house is worth its weight in coffee.

Things To Love

  • One Minute Brewing: The K-Elite will heat enough water for a single cup of coffee in one minute or the entire 72oz water reservoir in approximately three minutes.
  • Makes Iced Coffee: Make a cold drink with the iced coffee setting. However, the K-Elite doesn’t supply the ice.
  • Completely Programmable: Choose the temperature of your coffee, when it’s brewed, when your appliance switches on and off, and even the high-altitude setting with extensive programmable settings.
  • Brew Specific Cup Sizes: Five one-touch buttons will provide specific coffee sizes. 4oz, 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, and 12oz are available. Though the buttons only have icons rather than text, so you’ll need to remember which size correlates to which icon.
  • Hot Water Dispenser: You’re free to make soup, oats, tea, or anything else that requires hot water with the specific hot water dispenser.
  • Descale Warning & Water Filter: The K-Elite will let you know when this coffee maker needs descaling, while a charcoal filter will remove impurities from your water.

What’s Not To Like?

  • Vague Instruction Manual: Despite the enormous effort that Keurig put into the construction of the K-Elite, there was little thought put into the instruction manual, which is vague and confusing.
  • No Ice: As previously mentioned, even though the K-Elite has an ‘iced coffee’ feature, it doesn’t actually supply the ice, only the correct coffee concentration to ensure your drink isn’t diluted.

Final Remarks

The Keurig K-Elite is an extremely functional appliance that isn’t only limited to making coffee. Thanks to a whole host of features, you can personalize all your beverages to meet your preferences.

It’s not a cheap appliance, especially when you consider its single serve nature. Still, it’s a quality coffee maker that Keurig has rammed full of useful functions that makes satisfying coffee.

  • Wooden Collar: To ensure you don’t burn your hand while pouring coffee, Chemex has fitted the 8-cup Classic Series with a robust wooden collar.
  • Keep Warm & Reheat: The quality of glass that Chemex has used for the Classic series is such that you can reheat/keep your coffee warm by placing the carafe onto a glass stovetop or an open gas flame cooker.
  • Large Capacity: For a pour over coffee maker, a 40oz capacity is considered relatively substantial and holds way more coffee than our other favorite pour over brewers.

What’s Not To Like?

  • Relatively Expensive: Compared with electrical coffee makers, the Chemex pour over brewer seems exceptionally cheap, however considering these glass appliances are made up of only three components with very few features, in reality, they’re super expensive.
  • No Filters: Despite the sizable price point, Chemex doesn’t provide a filter (permanent or disposable) with this coffee maker. They sell their own ‘recommended’ filters, but with a premium markup.

Final Remarks

The Chemex Classic Series coffee maker is one of the most highly rated pour over devices on Amazon, with good reason. The elegant design, large capacity, and high-quality materials Chemex used in this brewer’s production ensure you’re buying a coffee maker that will never let you down. It’s even possible to keep your coffee warm, which is rare in a pour over brewer.

  • Dishwasher Safe: No

Things To Love

  • The Coffee is Excellent: Though the quantity of coffee this tiny brewer produces is small, it’s absolutely delicious.
  • Carafe with Built-In Filter: The permanent filter is fixed inside the carafe rather than in the central unit to help reduce the overall footprint of this small coffee maker.
  • Easy to Fill Water Reservoir: The removable water tank is easy to fill and simple to clean. It also has measurement markings for both hot and iced coffee.
  • Showerhead with Water Filter: A water filter is fixed to the showerhead to remove your water’s impurities for a smoother tasting brew. Zojirushi claims the filter will last for up to two years with ‘normal use.’
  • Auto ‘Keep Warm’: The Zojirushi Zutto will automatically switch to the keep warm function once it has finished a brew cycle.

What’s Not To Like?

  • Uninteresting Appearance: The Zutto 5-Cup coffee maker looks bland and uninteresting. It has no eye-catching features and is the epitome of nondescript.
  • It Smells of Plastic: Cheaper appliances often smell and taste of plastic when you first take them out of the box. The same is said for this coffee maker. But run some hot water through it, and it should fade over time.

Final Remarks

The Zojirushi Zutto is the ‘Gray Man’ of the coffee making world. Its design won’t garner any attention, but beyond the bland appearance, it’s quietly unassuming and gets the job done. If you’re not after anything too flashy, this coffee maker is reliable and makes a tasty brew.
