Bodum 1928-16US4 Chambord French Press Coffee Maker - 34 Ounce

Despite being the most expensive Bodum model we’ve looked at today, the Chambord French Press Coffee Maker is still remarkably affordable compared to other brands of coffee makers.

This model is as straightforward to use as it is easy to clean, and is perfect for your daily fix of coffee, or for couples to enjoy a tasty morning brew together.

It a sleek and sophisticated looking model, and not to mention it’s able to make a supremely delicious cup of coffee. The elegance does come at a cost, though, as the Bodum French Press is not as robust and sturdy as you might hope, so you’ll need to be gentle with it.

Design

When you hear ‘French Press’ the word ‘elegance’ immediately springs to mind, and the Bodum Chambord French Press Coffee Maker is the epitome of elegance. Available in six striking colors and styles, this coffee maker is simultaneously rustic and contemporary.

The metal framework comes in various colors that complement the glass’s sleek curves, lid, and handle, which ties the whole thing together to make one beautiful coffee maker.

Capacity

With a 34 ounce capacity, the Bodum Chambord is ideal for making only a couple of cups of coffee at any one time. While the Bodum marketing team claims it can produce four cups, it’s worth noting that Bodum is a European based brand where coffee portions are significantly smaller than in America, so it’s unlikely you’ll get as many brews as the packaging might suggest.

The glass carafe could have been improved somewhat with the addition of measurement markings, so you’d know precisely how much coffee you’ve actually made.

Ease of Use, Build Quality & Cleaning

While it might take a little trial and error to find the perfect blend of coffee and water to suit your tastes using the Bodum Chambord French Press Coffee Maker, once you find the proper process, you’re in for a delicious cup of coffee.

The build quality of this coffee maker is ok for the affordable price point. The carafe is a little loose in the frame, so be careful when you’re getting it ready for cleaning.

Some consumers report the rounded handle of the plunger is not as comfortable in the hand as a flatter surfaced knob might be, and the glass of the carafe is quite fragile, so again, be careful when moving it around.

Cleaning the Bodum Chambord is very easy as it’s absent of any nooks and crannies for remaining grounds to get stuck in. Though, only the beaker, filter, and plunger are dishwasher safe. The frame and lid will need to be washed by hand with a non-abrasive sponge.

Should you buy the Bodum 1928-16US4 Chambord French Press Coffee Maker?

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced French press coffee maker that makes sublime coffee, then the Bodum 1928-16US4 Chambord is worth your consideration. It’s suited to more coarsely ground coffee beans, and it will make coffee for one to two people at any one time.

It really is an excellent coffee maker, but you will need to be gentle when using it due to its fragile nature.

Design

The beauty of the Bodum Pour Over Coffee Maker lies in its simplicity. Its vase-like appearance will be an attractive addition to any kitchen.

The overall aesthetic is improved further by the silicone or cork collar (we think the cork is the best looking) that sits around the neck of the carafe and stops you from burning your hand.

While the silicone band is held in place by two plastic fasteners, the cork band is held together by a much more appealing leather tie.

The Bodum Pour Over coffee maker suffers from the same affliction as the French Press coffee maker in that it lacks any fluid measurements on the carafe, so you’ll have to measure your water carefully.

Capacity

With the same sized 34oz borosilicate glass carafe as the Bodum Chambord French Press Coffee Maker, the Bodum Pour Over is limited to around two good-sized cups of coffee per blend.

So unless you use a smaller coffee cup, you need to consider that you won’t be able to make coffee for more than two people at once.

Ease of Use, Build Quality & Cleaning

The Bodum Pour Over coffee maker is more suited to a medium grind to get the best cup of joe, and though it is marketed as an 8 cup carafe, if you like a good-sized brew in a morning, you won’t get anywhere near that many cups of coffee.

This coffee maker comes with the previously mentioned band, which doesn’t just make the appliance look pretty; it’ll stop you from burning yourself too. You’ll also get a small yet reasonably accurate scoop and a stopper that’ll help you pour your coffee without spilling any.

There are a couple of build quality/design issues with this coffee maker that must be addressed. The first is a lack of a handle, which we know is a typical design feature amongst pour over coffee makers, but it makes them challenging to hold for weaker hands.

Secondly, the reusable filter has very open sides, so if you don’t have a steady hand while pouring the water over your coffee, it’ll be easy to bypass the beans altogether and dilute your brew somewhat.

The remarkably simple design and the fact the glass is dishwasher safe makes this coffee maker a breeze to clean.

Should you buy the Bodum Pour Over Coffee Maker?

Given the ludicrously low price point of the Bodum Pour Over coffee maker, you’d be crazy not to give it a try, especially if you’re just getting into coffee. Once you get used to the intricacies and nuances of this maker, you’ll be making delicious brews every morning.

  • Appliance Weight: 1.45lbs
  • Capacity:  51 ounce
  • Material: BPA Free Plastic

  • Dishwasher Safe: Yes

Design

Bodum has produced an extremely affordable coffee maker in the K11683-01WM Cold Brew, and it shows. While the whole device is eminently practical, it is bland and uninteresting to look at.

It does come in four different colors; however, we’re not sure how bright white and jet black differs much from regular white and black.

Aside from the plunger rod and parts of the press, the whole thing is made from plastic and looks precisely as you would expect a low budget coffee maker to look. However, the embossed logo at the bottom of the appliance is a nice touch and makes it look marginally better.

Capacity

The Bodum Cold Brew has the largest capacity of all the coffee makers we’ve looked at today, but given that it takes 12 to 24 hours to brew your coffee, you’ll probably want to make a lot more than one or two cups at once.

Again, this is another Bodum product with no fluid measurements printed on to the container, so you’ll need to pre-measure your water or eyeball it.

Ease of Use, Build Quality & Cleaning

You can’t go far wrong with this Bodum coffee maker (it might be worthwhile googling how to use it as the supplied instructions are vague, to say the least) when you consider the cost of the appliance isn’t much more than a few cups of coffee.

It’s a great entry-level device that can produce refreshing coffee, given the right recipe.

Despite its very low price point and the materials it’s made from, it’s a pretty solid coffee maker. The rubberized handle makes it easy to grip, while its compact nature makes it convenient to store in your fridge.

Though the lids can be a challenge to get on as they have a very tight fit, you can rest assured no liquids will spill out and make a mess once you have them in place.

As the whole unit is dishwasher safe, it should be easy to clean, though a minor build quality issue means coffee beans can get between the transparent plastic and the colored housing. As the unit does not come apart, it’s not easy to get rid of the offending grounds.

Should you buy the Bodum K11683-01WM Bean Cold Brew Coffee Maker?

If a refreshing cold brew is your cup of … well, coffee … then why not give the Bodum Bean Cold Brew Coffee Make a shot? It’s one of the cheapest coffee products on the marketplace, and once you work out how to use it for the best results, there’ll be no stopping you.

You will need to plan ahead, though, as one batch will take 12 to 24 hours before it’s ready.
