  • Capacity:  75oz
  • Material: Plastic

Design

We’re not saying that the Keurig K-Elite is ugly; far from it, it has an almost professional aura surrounding it. However, we feel that the control panel on top of the appliance has more in common with a printer or fax machine than a contemporary coffee maker.

It has push-buttons rather than a touchscreen (though some people prefer the affirmation a push button will give), which can seem a little dated, though they have a cool blue back-light that improves the overall aesthetic somewhat.

The K-Elite has a robust handle for the K-Cup compartment that gives a satisfying click when you lock it into place and has the Keurig logo embossed on to it.

Capacity

While technically the K-Elite is a single-serve coffee maker  it has an enormous 75oz reservoir that can brew up to 8 smaller cups before it needs refilling.

The water tank is located on the machine’s left side and can be quickly removed and replaced for ease of use. Keurig designed the reservoir to look almost concealed. Looking at the appliance from the front, you’d have no idea the tank was there.

Features

  • Brew Specific Cup Sizes: Five one-touch buttons will provide specific coffee sizes. 4oz, 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, and 12oz are available. Though the buttons only have icons rather than text, so you’ll need to remember which size correlates to which icon.
  • Completely Programmable: You can choose the precise time your appliance will brew you a coffee and your drink’s exact temperature with this programmable unit. It also has an ‘Auto-off’ function that will turn the coffee maker off 2 hours after you last used it.
  • Iced Coffee Option: While the Keurig K-Elite does have a specific ‘Iced Coffee’ button, we must be clear, you will need to supply your own ice. However, it will brew a stronger flavored coffee at a cooler temperature for a refreshing iced brew.
  • Strong Brew Option: If you prefer a fuller flavor, there is a ‘Strong Brew’ button that’ll provide a more robust coffee, though this will take a little longer to brew.
  • Removable Drip Tray: A heavy-duty metal drip tray that will catch all the overflow, and it’s removable for ease of cleaning.
  • Hot Water Dispenser: If you need hot water for tea, soup, or something else, it’s there at the touch of the button with the K-Elite.
  • Descale Warning Light: A blue bulb will light up to let you know your Keurig coffee maker needs descaling. This should be done every 3-6 months.

Ease of Use, Build Quality & Cleaning

The Keurig K-Elite makes brewing a delicious coffee quick and easy (assuming you’re using good quality K-cups). However, it can be a little daunting to get used to, especially as the accompanying instructions can be somewhat ambiguous.

Filling the water reservoir could not be easier. The entire tank slides out of the housing, or you can simply remove the lid and pour water in with a jug. You also can add a water filter to the tank if you don’t have access to filtered water.

Once you’re ready for a cup, the K-Elite can heat the entire 75oz tank in under three minutes, while brewing a single cup of coffee will take around a minute.

The overall build quality is excellent, and unit failure is rare.

All the usable parts of this machine are removable, so you’ll find cleaning far more straightforward than some other brands and models that don’t offer the same practicality.

Should you buy the Keurig K-Elite Coffee Maker?

While the Keurig K-Elite is not exactly cheap, it’s not overly expensive either. It is a one of the best K-cup Pod coffee makers for coffee lovers who like to experiment with different flavors and blends.

The whole unit has been thoughtfully designed and has plenty of intuitive features so you can experience many different coffee types at the touch of a button. You’re not just limited to coffee, though; this device is useful for making tea, soup, or oatmeal thanks to the hot water dispenser.

2. Keurig K-Classic

Best Keurig Pod Coffee Maker

Pros

  • Affordable Price Point
  • Auto Switch Off
  • Water Filter System
  • Easy to Clean
  • Simple to Fill Reservoir

Cons

  • Takes Longer to Brew Than it Claims
  • No Programmable Timer
  • Relatively Large

Specifications

  • Genre: K-Cup Coffee Maker
  • Dimensions: 13.3 x 9.8 x 13 inches
  • Appliance Weight: 9lbs
  • Capacity:  48oz
  • Material: Plastic
  • Available Colors: Black – Rhubarb
  • Dishwasher Safe: No

Design

Keurig has given the K-Classic a simple design with no real eye-catching features, and despite having a smaller water reservoir than the K-Elite, it has a slightly larger footprint.

The central unit is predominantly made from a generic black plastic that’s only broken up by the silver release handle and Keurig’s logo.

The blue back-lit cup size selection buttons are the highlight of an otherwise reasonably bland control panel. The K-Classic isn’t a bad-looking appliance and is probably about right for its price point; there’s just nothing that makes you sit up and take notice about this coffee maker.

Capacity

With a 48oz water reservoir, you’ll be able to get four or five average-sized coffees out of the K-Classic before the tank needs a refill. However, as Keurig has done such an excellent job with the removable tank design, it’s super easy to refill, so it’s not a big deal.

You’re able to select three different cup sizes with the one-touch preset buttons that will deliver 6, 8, and 10oz cups of Joe.

Features

  • ‘Auto Off’ Button: If you’re the forgetful type, press the ‘auto-off’ button, and the appliance will shut down two hours after it was last used.
  • Water Filters: Keurig has included two water filters that can be attached to the tank for those people without access to filtered water. The filter handle has a handy reminder built-in to let you know when the filter needs changing.
  • Removable Drip Tray: The drip tray will hold 8oz of overflow in case of any minor mishaps; it’s also removable for ease of cleaning. Unlike the K-Elite, this tray is made of plastic and is not as sturdy.
  • Add Water Light: You might not notice when your appliance is running low on water; the K-Classic will let you know with the ‘Add Water’ warning light.
  • Descale Warning Light: Like the K-Elite, this appliance will also let you know when it needs descaling.

Ease of Use, Build Quality & Cleaning

As will most Keurig coffee making appliances, you’re all but guaranteed an excellent full-flavored cup of coffee. The K-Classic machine is super simple to use (provided you have prior knowledge of using K-Cups) and is fast and efficient.

However, it isn’t as fast as Keurig claims it to be. While technically, the 1 minute brew time is correct from the moment you press the button, because this coffee maker has no programmable timer to switch it on ahead of time, you’ll have to wait three or so minutes for the coffee maker to heat the water. It’s not the end of the world to wait four minutes for a coffee, but it is something to consider.

The build quality of the K-Classic is pretty good; consumer complaints of unit failure are kept to a minimum; however, don’t expect these modern appliances to last decades as did their original counterparts.

As with most Keurig coffee makers, all the parts that come into contact with coffee, water, and/or cups (possible overflow issues) are removable, making them much easier to clean than if they were fixed. Though they’re not dishwasher safe, so hand wash only.

Should you buy the Keurig K-Classic Coffee Maker?

The K-Classic is a more affordable and slightly smaller version of the K-Elite. It’s got fewer features too, a K-Elite-Lite if you will. It makes delicious coffee, is simple to use, and is even easier to clean.

The lack of a programmable timer will mean you’ll have to wait a little longer for your coffee, but good things come to those who wait …. Or are prepared to pay more to get them early.

3. Keurig K-Mini Single Serve

Best Keurig Small Coffee Maker
Keurig K-Mini Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, 6 to 12 oz. Brew Sizes, Black
  • FITS ANYWHERE: Less than 5 inches wide, perfect for small spaces
  • YOUR PERFECT AMOUNT: Brew any cup size between 6-12oz with Keurig K-Cup pods
  • ONE CUP RESERVOIR: Just add fresh water for each brew

Pros

  • Simple to Use
  • Compact & Lightweight
  • Removable Drip Tray
  • Power Cord Storage

Cons

  • Pricey For What You Get
  • Initially Confusing to Use
  • ‘Auto Off’ Time Period is Really Short
  • Tricky to Remove K-Cups From

Specifications

  • Genre: Small/K-Cup Coffee Maker
  • Dimensions: 11.3 x 4.5 x 12.1 inches
  • Appliance Weight: 2lbs
  • Capacity:  12oz
  • Material: Plastic
  • Available Colors: Black – Dreamy Blue – Dusty Rose – Oasis – Studio Gray
  • Dishwasher Safe: No

Design

Keurig has kept it simple with the K-Mini Single Serve coffee maker. Its sole purpose is to make a cup of coffee as quickly and efficiently as possible, and that comes through in the overall design.

It has a small footprint and an appearance that is basic and straight to the point.

The K-Mini is available in five different colors, and there is a slight price difference between them all.

Capacity

As a small coffee maker, the K-Mini only holds 12oz of water in the reservoir, which is just enough to make a decent-sized single-serve cup of coffee.

The tank is not removable, and any water you pour into the device will be brewed in the next cycle, so you must pay attention to how much water you want in your coffee. There are measurement lines on the side of the appliance to help with that.

Filling the reservoir is easy, as the tank’s lid lifts up, giving you a big target to aim at.

Features

  • ‘Auto Off’ Feature: With the ”Auto Off’ feature, you won’t need to worry if you left this appliance on. However, it will switch off only 90 seconds after you last used it, so if you plan on making more than one cup, you might have to restart it if you don’t have your skates on.
  • Removable Drip Tray: The K-Mini, like most other Keurig models, has a removable drip tray for ease of cleaning and fits a taller travel mug underneath. However, it does feel a little flimsy.
  • Power Cord Storage: There is a compartment at the back of this coffee maker for you to store excess power cordage to help keep your kitchen nice and tidy.

Ease of Use, Build Quality & Cleaning

As usual, the Keurig brand has produced a coffee maker that ultimately makes a most excellent cup of coffee. There is no doubting their heritage in this regard. The K-Mini is no different and makes a truly delicious brew.

This coffee maker is about what you’d expect from a small coffee maker, with very few features, and it’s built from cheaper materials, but it does the job.

It is simple to use once you know what you’re doing, which initially might take a bit of research as the instructions are vague, and there’s nothing on the appliance to give you a hint. But once you’ve got it down, it’s plain sailing from there.

Because there isn’t much to this coffee maker, there isn’t much to clean. The tray and the K-Cup holder are removable, so they’re easy to clean, but again, non of the parts are dishwasher safe.

Should you buy the Keurig K-Mini Single Serve Coffee Maker?

Keurig has aimed the K-Mini squarely at those who don’t have the time or space for a larger appliance that’s chocked full of features. Owners of the K-Mini don’t want to mess around, they want their coffee, and they want it now.

We feel Keurig hit the nail right on the head with this coffee maker; however, there might be better options on the market when you look at the rather hefty price point.
