BEST OVERALL
Hamilton Beach 6-Quart Slow Cooker

Thanks to its world-class performance and high-end build quality, the Hamilton Beach Temp Tracker 33866 Slow Cooker is our favorite appliance in its class. It’s ridiculously versatile, isn't overly expensive, and looks superb.

The integrated probe keeps you informed of its contents' internal temperature to make sure your food is never over-cooked. It’s just a shame that there's nothing to regulate the temperature of this slow cooker's exterior.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 17.78 x 14.37 x 23.19 inches
  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Appliance Weight: 9.86lbs
  • Capacity: 5.3-Quart
  • Available Colors: Dark Stainless Steel

Things To Love

  • Ceramic Cooking Surface: The ceramic coated cooking surface means the Calphalon Digital Sauté Slow Cooker is tremendously efficient at gaining and retaining heat. It also makes it very easy to clean.
  • Multi-Function: While this slow cooker doesn’t have the multi-function of the Breville Fast Slow Pro Multi Cooker, it does give you the ability to not only slow cook, but also brown, sear, and saute.
  • Oven-Safe Pot: Having a pot that is compatible with electric, gas, and induction cooktops only increases the versatility of this appliance.
  • Fantastic Appearance: There are no two ways about it. This slow cooker looks superb. The dark grey stainless steel finish, sleek curves, and contemporary switches and dials give this appliance an appearance matched by only a few slow cookers.

What’s Not To Like?

  • Pot Scratches Easily: The ceramic-coated pot might improve the performance of the Calphalon Digital Sauté Slow Cooker; however, you’ll need to be careful with the utensils you use alongside it as the pot will scratch easily.
  • Circular Pot: Oval pots tend to be the shape of choice for slow cookers, and with good reason. The oval shape ensures you can fit wider cuts of meat into your appliance. In comparison, a circular pot is inefficient, even with the same sized capacity.

Final Remarks

The Calphalon Digital Sauté Slow Cooker is not only efficient, but it’s also versatile. The features and functions ensure you can whip up all kinds of meals that are delicious and tender. This appliance has the smallest capacity on our list, which is made worse by the inefficient design.

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Appliance Weight: 8lbs
  • Capacity: 6-Quart
  • Available Colors: Stainless Steel

Things To Love

  • Affordable: While not the cheapest slow cooker we’ve looked at today, this appliance is less expensive than most.
  • Secure-Fit Lid: The Crock-Pot 6-Quart Cook & Carry SCCPVL610 comes with a ‘secure-fit lid’ for less mess when transporting cooked foods.
  • Digital Countdown Control: Having a digital countdown control means you can pre-plan meals up to 20 hours in advance.
  • Microwaveable Pot & Easy Cleaning: The inner pot on the Crock-Pot 6-Quart Slow Cooker is microwavable, so you use fewer dishes in the kitchen. It’s also easy to clean, which is another tick in the box for this appliance.
  • Auto Keep-Warm: The ‘Auto Keep-Warm’ feature switches on automatically at the end of a cooking cycle if you’re not quite ready to eat.

What’s Not To Like?

  • Water Gets Into The Lid: There appears to be a design flaw in the lid that allows water to get into the handle when washing. It can be alleviated by loosening a screw.
  • Lid Clamps Prone To Snapping: Consumer reports suggest the clamps that help seal the lid have been known to snap. It is a minority of appliances that suffer from this defect, but it is still something to consider.
  • Only Three Rubber Feet: While the lid is designed to help with transportation of meals, the three rubber feet the appliance stands on are insufficient in stopping the slow cooker tipping over in a moving vehicle.

Final Remarks

Crock-Pot are the stalwarts of the slow cooking community, and while the Crock-Pot 6-Quart Cook & Carry SCCPVL610 does have some minor issues, there’s still a lot of positives with this versatile and affordable slow cooker. The features that come with this device ensure your kitchen cleanup is kept to a minimum.
