Capacity

Features

  • ‘ExactSlice’ System: Many processors with slicing capabilities have only one or two slice-thickness options at their disposal, usually by offering one or two blades/discs. The KitchenAid KFP1466CU’s ‘ExactSlice’ system uses an adjustable blade that you can alter using a slider on the appliance base. This feature gives you the ability to choose the exact thickness of your ingredient.
  • Dicing Kit: KitchenAid has incorporated a dicing system into the KFP1466CU, giving you the capability to dice fruits and vegetables in less than a second with this unique blade assembly.
  • High, Low & Pulse Speeds: This appliance has three processing settings to give you even more options when using the KitchenAid KFP1466CU.
  • 2-in-1 Feed Tube: Feeding ingredients into the processor is made easier thanks to a dual-sized feed tube that can incorporate wider or more narrow foods, depending on what you want to chop, slice, dice, or shred. However, the ‘wider’ tube is not as wide as one might hope.
  • Tons of Accessories: KitchenAid has included a whole mess of toys and gadgets with the KitchenAid KFP1466CU 14-Cup Food Processor. This appliance comes with a smaller work bowl, six different blade systems, a cleaning tool, two lids (one without the feeding tube), and mercifully, a storage case for all the different blades.

Performance & Cleaning

For chopping, shredding, slicing, and dicing food, the KitchenAid KFP1466CU 14-Cup Food Processor is difficult to fault. It performs as you would hope for such an expensive appliance.

Because this best value food processor has so many blade systems and accessories, it can be time-consuming to assemble, and it’s also finicky. The build quality is good, though the fittings are tight, making them challenging to click into place.

The KitchenAid KFP1466CU has a powerful system to cope with everyday processing tasks, but that power can cause the device to vibrate and walk across your worksurfaces.

Removable parts are all dishwasher safe making it easy to clean, however, the dicing blade assembly tends to get chunks of fruit and vegetables stuck inside which can be challenging to remove.

While you won’t be able to process a massive amount of fruits and veggies at any one time, 7-Cups should be sufficient for your average-sized family to prep your food efficiently.

Score: 3.5/5

Performance & Cleaning

The KitchenAid KFP0718ER 7-Cup Food Processor isn’t chock-full of food processing features, but it does have a very creative design that makes using and storing the appliance so much easier.

For the most part, this processor does precisely what it is supposed to do; however, two small oversights cause minor issues.

The gap between the lid and the slicing/shredding disc is large enough for pieces of food to get stuck between, leaving you with a small build-up of unprocessed ingredients. Simultaneously, there is a small space in the hinge on the lid that can retain water when cleaning. But these are minor inconveniences overall.

The entire unit (except the motor base) is dishwasher safe for ease of cleaning. Even if you don’t have access to a dishwasher, the appliance’s simple design means it’s still a cinch to clean.

Score: 4/5

Should you buy the KitchenAid KFP0718ER 7-Cup Food Processor?

The KitchenAid KFP0718ER 7-Cup Food Processor is seemingly an average appliance for a modest price point that gives standard results.

However, the innovative design and simplicity of use mean this compact and attractive food processor is definitely worth your consideration.

Looks

The tiny KitchenAid 3.5-Cup Food Chopper has bags of character for such a simple appliance. It has the appearance of a small kettle or jug, thanks to the pour spout on the work bowl.

We have never seen an appliance with such a vast array of color options as does the KitchenAid 3.5-Cup Food Chopper. With 17 different colors to choose from, there is undoubtedly a food processor that matches your kitchen décor.

Score: 4/5

Capacity

With a 3.5-Cup capacity, the KitchenAid Food Chopper is the smallest food processor we’re looking at today, but that’s still enough room for a decent amount of food prep.

This simple food chopper was explicitly designed to help out with small food processing jobs rather than producing massive amounts of chopped, shredded, or sliced ingredients.

Score: 3.5/5

Performance & Cleaning

It’s worth remembering that this appliance was not designed to tackle the tough jobs in the kitchen, and for the low price point, don’t expect this food processor to be shattering any glass ceilings.

With the said, the KitchenAid 3.5-Cup Food Chopper tackles the smaller jobs it was designed to do, adequately. It’s fantastic at pureeing fruits and vegetables, however as a chopper, it’s all too easy to over-chop your ingredients and end up with pureed food.

Setting the appliance up can be a bit finicky, and it can be frustrating to get everything lined up and locked into place ready to go.

Cleaning the processor is easy thanks to dishwasher safe parts, though the lid has a couple of indentations that food particles can easily get stuck in.

Score 3.5/5

Should you buy the KitchenAid 3.5-Cup Food Chopper?

KitchenAid did not design the 3.5-Cup Food Chopper with professional kitchens in mind. What they wanted was an affordable food processor for smaller kitchens capable of helping with less challenging tasks.

This appliance is suited to people looking for an entry-level device to make baby food, sauces, and salsas, and this appliance does an okay job of that.
