Looks

Even though the Ninja BN601 Professional Plus Food Processor’s design doesn’t have the typical Ninja black stealthy finish, it’s still a very attractive appliance.

The motor-base is finished with a ‘stainless steel’ colored plastic and has sleek curves. The control panel is simple yet striking, while the work bowl is made from crystal clear BPA-Free plastic and sports a robust handle.

Like any Ninja product, their iconic logo adorns the front of the appliance.

Score: 4/5

Capacity

A 9-Cup capacity work bowl is just about perfect for large families. While there are appliances available with more substantial capacities, it’s unlikely you’ll run out of space with the Ninja BN601 Professional Plus Food Processor.

Score: 4/5

Features

  • Auto IQ Preset Programs: Remove the guesswork from your food prep with the Auto IQ pre-set programs that will set the time, pulse, and speed for you, depending on what task you’re trying to accomplish. The settings are Chop, Dough, Puree, and Disc (which is for slicing and shredding).
  • Chopping & Dough Blades: While the chopping blades for a food processor are essential, the dough blades do not come as standard with every processing appliance. This one does.
  • Reversible Shredding and Slicing Disc: Unlike the Mega Kitchen BL770, the Ninja BN601 Professional Plus Food Processor does have shredding and slicing capabilities thanks to a single reversible disc.
  • Feeding Tube: Ninja have incorporated a feeding tube into this food processor, which allows you to gradually add ingredients to your appliance without stopping it or removing the lid. However, it is slightly too narrow for larger fruits and veggies.
  • Suction Cup Feet: While these cups are not quite as robust as the locking mechanism on the Mega Kitchen System BL770, they are still a welcome addition that will stop your appliance from walking off.

Score: 4.5/5

Performance & Cleaning

The Ninja BN601 Professional Plus Food Processor’s performance is superb, and it handles all the tasks a good food processor should, with ease. The shredder will blow through full blocks of cheese in seconds, while the chopping blades and slicer produces excellent, uniform results.

The build quality is great overall; however, there is one slight niggle when using the shredding/slicing disc. There is a tiny gap between the lid and the disc in which small amounts of food can get stuck, so when you’ve finished processing, there will be a slight build-up of ingredients.

Cleaning is mostly easy thanks to dishwasher safe parts and being able to use the pulse setting as a self-cleaning function. However, the slicing disc can be a challenge to remove particles of food from.

Score: 4/5

Should you buy the Ninja BN601 Professional Plus Food Processor?

While the Ninja Mega Kitchen System BL770 might have more overall versatility in the kitchen, the Ninja BN601 Professional Plus Food Processor is one of the best food processors available and far more functional than others.

With the ability to chop, slice, shred and make dough, you’d expect it to be a little more expensive than it is. If you’re looking for a good-sized, capable food processor, then the Ninja BN601 Professional Plus Food Processor could be the one for you.

  • It’s Relatively Expensive
  • No Shredding or Slicing Attachments

  • Blade Material: Stainless Steel
  • Appliance Weight: 9.2lbs
  • Capacity: 8-Cup
  • Available Colors: Black
  • Dishwasher Safe: Yes
  • Wattage: 1500W

Looks

In general, food processors are not the most attractive small kitchen appliances you can buy. So, the Ninja Mega Kitchen System is a refreshing change to that generalisation, as it has a relatively attractive appearance.

The sturdy, black plastic base looks like it means business, while the transparent work bowl has a black plastic lid and handle that complements the machine. The control panel looks crisp, clean, and is easy to understand.

Score: 4/5

Capacity

While Ninja provides some massive containers for the blender that comes with The Mega Kitchen System, the food processor comes with a respectably sized work bowl that has an 8-Cup capacity. This should be sufficient for most chopping tasks, and is large enough to hold 2lbs of dough.

However, this appliance is by no means the largest capacity food processor on the market and is some way off of getting maximum points.

Score: 3.5/5

Features

  • 4 Blade Processing Assembly + Dough Blade: The four-blade assembly of the processor will quickly and efficiently chop all your ingredients. Simultaneously, the dough blade (which many competitors sell as an accessory) can whip up flawless dough in under a minute. Sadly, this bundle doesn’t come with a shredding or slicing blade/disc.
  • Multi-Functional: While we are reviewing only the food processing aspect of the Ninja Mega Kitchen System, it’s worth noting that this huge bundle is more than just a processor. It’s also a blender with an enormous capacity and can blend single-serve portions in ‘to go’ cups.
  • Variable Speed: Many food processors are single speed, which can limit their versatility somewhat. But the BL770 has a powerful 1500W four-speed motor that can meet your every need.
  • Foot Lock System: Extremely powerful appliances often suffer from “walking” issues, whereby the blades spin with so much force that the unit will move across your countertop. The base unit for the BL770 has a lock feature that will secure your food processor to the work surface ensuring it doesn’t wander off.

Score: 4/5

Performance & Cleaning

Ninja has built their brand on high performing, stylish kitchen appliances. The Mega Kitchen System BL770 is one of Ninja’s best products and is a fantastic food processor.

Unfortunately, the versatility of the BL770 as a food processor has been let down by the absence of slicing and shredding blades/discs, which are common features among rival food processors. There’s also no feed tube, so adding any ingredients during processing will require you to stop the appliance and remove the lid.

As with many Ninja appliances, cleaning is made easy by all removable parts being dishwasher safe, and the ‘Pulse’ setting is used as a self-cleaning mode by adding a little soap and water to the bowl and giving it a few blasts.

Score: 4/5

Should you buy the Ninja Mega Kitchen System BL770?

The Ninja Mega Kitchen System BL770 is an ideal product for people looking for an all-round kitchen appliance. It is quite expensive if you’re buying it for the sole purpose of food processing, but it’s relatively cheap if you need a blender as well.

The lack of slicing and shredding blades is disappointing. The absence of a feeding tube is also an inconvenience.

  • Light & Compact Travel Size
  • Super Affordable
  • Surprisingly Powerful
  • Easy To Use
  • Non-Slip Base

Cons

  • Limited by Small Capacity
  • Can’t Handle Tougher Ingredients
  • Difficult To Clean

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 5.75 x 5.75 x 10.13 inches
  • Work Bowl Material: Plastic
  • Blade Material Stainless Steel
  • Appliance Weight: 2lbs
  • Capacity:  2-Cups
  • Available Colors: Black
  • Dishwasher Safe: Yes
  • Wattage: 200W

Looks

There’s not much to this compact appliance, but the Ninja Express Chop Food Processor still looks pretty sleek. The miniature work bowl sits under the black plastic top, which houses the motor and a simple operation button.

Because it’s so small, it can sit on your work surfaces and brighten up your kitchen with its fun appearance.

Score: 3/5

Capacity

Ninja purposefully designed the Express Chop with small workloads in mind, and as such, it only requires a tiny 2-Cup work bowl. Which means this appliance won’t score well in this category, but there is absolutely a market for small food processors.

You will have to chop your ingredients into small-ish chunks before putting them in this device, and it’s more than likely you’ll need to process only one ingredient at a time.

Score: 2/5

Features

  • Four Blade Assembly: Despite the tiny bowl, Ninja still managed to fit an impressive four-blade assembly into this appliance, so the 200w motor can chop light ingredients with ease.
  • Non-Slip Base: The Ninja NJ110GR Express Chop Food Processor has a non-slip base fitted to the bottom of the appliance to stop it sliding around. While it does help slightly, you’ll still need to hold on to the device when you’re using it.

Score: 2.5/5

Performance & Cleaning

For such a small appliance, the Ninja NJ110GR Express Chop Food Processor does a surprisingly good job of chopping single ingredients for meal prep. Even though it has a small 200W motor, the four-blade assembly can still finely chop garlic, onion, tomatoes, and other such ingredients.

It was not designed to tackle large food processing tasks and is severely limited in what it can achieve. But what it can do, it does well.

The Ninja NJ110GR Express Chop Food Processor would be reasonably simple to clean were it not for a small indentation in the lid in which food can easily get into. However, it won’t come out with the same ease it went in.

Many consumers resort to using toothpicks and Q-tips to remove those pesky morsels.

Score: 3/5

Should you buy the Ninja NJ110GR Express Chop Food Processor?

Do not let the lower score of the Ninja NJ110GR Express Chop Food Processor deter you from buying one of these appliances if what you’re after is a small, affordable processor to lend a hand in the kitchen.

It’s true that it has very little versatility and limited in the kinds of ingredients you can process; however, the Express Chop is a handy little device that can help with meal prep or make baby food.
