Cuisinart Toaster Oven Reviews of 4 top models

Cuisinart is an American company that has been producing high-quality kitchen appliances since 1971. Their very first product was a food processor; however, their offer has considerably expanded over the years.

With the arrival of fryer toaster ovens to the market, Cuisinart started to offer different models of this appliance. Therefore, we’ve gathered information on their four best toasters. This way, you’ll be able to choose wisely if this is the next appliance you’ve been looking to invest in.

Cuisinart TOA-65 AirFryer Toaster Oven Air Fryer

Things to love:

  • Speed: The air fryer option cooks very fast and the preheat option reaches the temperature you want rather quickly.
  • Size: Unlike many of these types of appliances, the TOA-65 has a very large surface interior that can fit even 9×9 recipients and air fries up to 3lbs. of chicken wings at once.
  • Minimal noise: For perfect results of the air frying mode, this unit has a very silent motor fan. Users love the fact that his air fryer oven can be so quiet. No need to wake-up anyone during your late-night snack!
  • Variety: Besides the air fryer, this model has a wide range of toaster oven functions from toasting and reheating to conventional baking, broiling, roasting and even making pizza.
  • Slow cooking options: Some of the unique features of this model are the low-temperature settings, which are perfect for slow cooking and braising. Also, it stands out because of its dehydrating mode, which is particularly distinctive from other units.
  • Digital controls: This is a special upgrade from the TOA-60 version in which the knobs often got sticky or broke.
  • Preset functions: The air frying specific options will help you select certain meals. These include wings, veggies, snacks, and even nuggets or fries.
  • Variability: This model includes more options to customize your cooking,  allowing you to adjust the velocity of the fan as well as defrosting and convection options.
  • Easy to clean: With a stainless steel exterior that prevents the dirt from building up, this unit includes a pull-out bottom that makes wiping it very easy. Users especially love this feature.

What’s not to like?

  • Drying in the toasting option: Some users stated that the toast feature dries too much the bread and the content they put on top of it.
  • Overcooking: Many users have found that when they use customizable options the temperature quickly increases to over 60°F. This often burns their food. Some of them found this reason enough for returning the appliance. Others reported that once they learned this, you can just adjust the temperature for their recipes.

Final Remarks:

Out of all the options of air fryer toaster ovens that Cuisinart offers this has the largest inside surface (ideal for pizzas or flat recipes) and the most modern look. The upsides against the TOA-60 are the preset functions, the slow cooking options, and the digital panel. We recommend this model if you are looking for the full size refined version of this type of appliance. It’s ideal for larger families and it’s digital functions are one of the things that make us prefer it over the rest of the models.

Our score: 4.7 out of 5.

Cuisinart TOA-28 Compact Air Fryer Toaster Oven

A compact toaster oven that manages to include numerous useful features.

Things to love:

  • Compact design: This model has the best of both worlds; it has the functions of Cuisinart’s full-size models and the lighter, smaller exterior for less crowded countertops. Ideal for small families, couples or single people.
  • Large capacity: This air fryer toaster has a considerable capacity for its size. It can toast up to four slices of bread. Furthermore, you can even cook a chicken that weighs around 3 pounds. Its great capacity is one of the things users like the most.
  • Variety: There are numerous features available with this model. From warming and air frying to convection baking and broiling.
  • Toast shade timer: You can the shade of toast you prefer. This model comes with settings for dark, light and, of course, medium toast.
  • Efficiency: In comparison to the full-size air fry ovens, this model is a lot more energy-efficient. This is great for both your electric bill and the environment.

What’s not to like?

  • No inside light: Unlike the other full-size Cuisinart models, this one does not have an inside light for regular checking. Therefore, it’s difficult to see when the food is cooked without opening the door.
  • Smaller inside: The inside surface is rather smaller than the TOA-60 or TOA-65 models, which we’ll see next. Therefore, this compact model is not adequate for pizza recipes or large meals for big crowds. For example, it doesn’t fit an entire turkey.
  • Durability:  Some users reported stickiness after various uses as well as some knobs breaking. This also happens with the TOA-60 model.

Final Remarks:

This model is perfect for those small families and single people who are curious in the kitchen and want to try the air frying technology for everyday use. It’s ideal for small kitchens because it can easily replace a toaster, microwave, and oven in one single appliance. Furthermore, it’s one of the most affordable options. Unlike bigger models, this one does not have negative reviews in the thermostat department.

Our score: 4.5 out of 5.

Cuisinart TOA-60 Convection Toaster Oven Air Fryer

Things to love:

  • Variety: It offers different functions, such as conventional and convection baking, convection broil, toasting, reheating and, of course, air frying.
  • Easy to use: Users have found this item very easy to use. Even elderly users caught on very fast on how to use all the commands.
  • Speed: The oven options such as baking are actually faster than conventional ovens.
  • Inside volume: Full-size oven, large enough to air fry up to 3lbs. of food at once, toast six slices of bread or bagels, bake an entire chicken or turkey, and cook a 12-inch pizza.

What’s not to like?

  • Thermostat and timer deficiency: The most consecutive critique on this model is definitely the thermostat and timer adjustments. According to many users, the temperature reaches 100°F in only five minutes. This causes overcooking in most cases.
  • Durability: Many users found that the knobs don’t have a very long life expectancy. They often break or get sticky over time.
  • Not easy to clean: Although it is listed as a nonstick interior, many users find it very hard to clean on the inside. Furthermore, the tray is not removable, which makes things harder.
  • Defective features: The high temperatures may cause the tray to bend and it becomes stuck to the oven. In addition, there are reports of a burning metal smell when used.

Final Remarks:

This is a simpler model of all the air fryer toaster oven spectrum of Cuisinart, although it is full size. Out of all the other Cuisinart similar models, this has the biggest inside volume (ideal for roasting chickens or baking cakes), which works for big families and everyday use. However, the fact that there are so many reports of thermostat issues makes this model a risky purchase, and we can’t fully recommend it.

Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven AFR-25

Things to love:

  • Quiet operation: This unit has a particularly silent motor fan and heater that brigs optimal performance and minimal noise.
  • Compact design: Very useful for those small kitchens where there is not much countertop space. This makes it perfect for small families and single people who want to keep things simple.
  • Variety: This model offers several functions and variability just like the other bigger models, such as: air frying, toasting, reheating, broiling, and convection baking.
  • Automatic shut off: This model comes with a 60-minute timer and automatic shut off for safety. This is perfect for those busy mornings in which you might forget to turn your appliance off.
  • Capacity: Even though this is the compact version of the TOA-65, it has enough room to air fry an entire chicken, toast up to six slices of bread, and cook a medium-sized pizza.
  • Easy to use: With only two setting variables (time and temperature) it is extremely easy to use. Therefore, it’s recommended for elderly people.

What’s not to like?

  • Only one mode: Unlike the other Cuisinart´s air fryer toaster ovens, this model does not come with various functions, only time and temperature settings.
  • No inside light:  This model doesn’t have an inside light. Therefore, you will be unable to check on your food unless you open the air fryer. This feature is often repeated on all the compact models.
  • Not easy to clean: Many users found this model very hard to clean on the inside.
  • Cooks unevenly: Some users stated the necessity of turning around the food during the cooking because it wouldn’t cook the bottom side. We consider this a very big issue.
  • Surface temperature: This is where the size of this oven gets in the way of a positive experience. It is so small that the probability of burning yourself when pulling the food out of the oven is very high. Also, the inside tray may fall off easily so all the hot content gets out.
  • Durability: This defect is constant in almost all of the Cuisinart´s air fryer toaster ovens. After some uses, the knobs get sticky and sometimes they stop working after a while.
  • Deficiency in the air frying: Some users stand that the results compared more to baking instead of air frying the food.

Final Remarks:

This is by far the worst-ranked model of the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Ovens. Its small size is actually a downside for this one. Although the price is very low, it does not make up for the fact that it cooks unevenly and it is unsafe to handle in many cases. We wouldn’t recommend buying this model.
